A few years back, I envisioned an electronic device or piece of software that you could initiate with the push of a button on your TV remote. It would place a black bar at the bottom of your screen to block the (to me, and I’m sure many other folks) headache-inducing ‘crawl’ seen on so many news shows. One press would send it up a certain amount, a second press would creep it up a little further, a third press would go to the max, a fourth press would send it away. After a quick round of Googling, I found that no less an entity than IBM’s labs had patented the concept of my “Crawl Blocker” just a few scant weeks before.
